Mobile City Cabin: Redefining Self-Driving Cars

A New Era of Commuting and Connectivity

Self-driving cars have long been a dream of the future, and now, thanks to the innovative minds at UISEE, that dream is becoming a reality. Introducing Mobile City Cabin (MC2), a groundbreaking self-driving car designed to revolutionize short-distance commuting in contained environments. With its unique features and cutting-edge technology, MC2 is set to redefine the way we travel and connect in our daily lives.

UISEE's inspiration for MC2 stemmed from the desire to overcome the obstacles that have hindered the widespread adoption of self-driving technology in real-world scenarios. By focusing on short-distance commuting in contained environments, such as parks and airports, the team at UISEE aims to create a seamless and efficient transportation experience. This innovative approach allows high-tech to create tangible value in our everyday lives.

What sets MC2 apart from other self-driving cars is its versatility and adaptability. Initially targeted for short-distance commuting, MC2 has already been successfully tested in campuses and high-tech parks. With each iteration, it moves closer to becoming a volume product that can seamlessly integrate into urban environments. This flexibility makes MC2 a truly groundbreaking design that can adapt to various settings and meet the needs of different users.

MC2's realization technology is a testament to UISEE's commitment to excellence. By relying on stereo vision, camera/radar fusion, and commercial GPS/inertial systems, MC2 can accurately sense its environment. Additionally, it supports LIDAR in its extensible sensor fusion framework, further enhancing its perception capabilities. State-of-the-art computer vision and machine learning algorithms, including deep learning and reinforcement learning, enable MC2 to understand and reason the environment, ensuring optimal driving behaviors. All of this is made possible by a small form-factor supercomputer that is highly dependable and secure.

When it comes to design, MC2 is a true masterpiece. Its compact cabin design maximizes usable space, allowing for a comfortable and relaxing experience for all passengers. The removal of traditional control components, such as the steering wheel, pedals, and dashboard, creates a spacious interior that fosters interaction and connectivity. The round-shaped sofa layout promotes a sense of community among passengers, while the innovative Human Machine Interaction (HMI) system, with voice input and 3D sound and interior LED ambient lighting as output, provides a highly efficient and natural way to interact with the car.

MC2's design also prioritizes communication with other road users. A strip light system around the car's body, along with a LED display in front, allows for clear and intuitive communication with pedestrians and cyclists. This emphasis on information transparency ensures the safety and integration of self-driving cars into the broader transportation system.

The Mobile City Cabin Self-Driving Car project began in April 2015 in Beijing and was completed in July 2016 in Shanghai. Since then, it has garnered recognition and accolades, including the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in the Vehicle, Mobility, and Transportation Design category. This award recognizes MC2's outstanding design, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology. It is a testament to UISEE's commitment to improving the quality of life and making the world a better place.

With Mobile City Cabin, UISEE is paving the way for a new era of commuting and connectivity. By combining cutting-edge technology, innovative design, and a focus on user experience, MC2 is set to redefine the way we travel and interact with our environment. As we look to the future, it is clear that self-driving cars like MC2 will play a vital role in shaping the cities of tomorrow.
